Churches of the Lower Columbia Basin Cluster G minister to our community and our world in numerous ways.
First Lutheran and Lutheran Church of the Master, both of Pasco, assemble Christmas Food Baskets each December and deliver them to area families. Food items are collected from members and local businesses and then boxes are assembled and delivered by members of the congregations.
ELCA Disaster Response - When a major disaster strikes, local needs often outstrip the available local resources. In such catastrophes the whole church marshals its resources and reaches out to help. Local ELCA congregations generously give routinely to this effort, but when a disaster strikes, the outpouring of help is awesome.
Each year, Lord of Life Lutheran of Kennewick sends a group to locations in particular need to assist with rebuilding efforts. In June, the youth group from Lord of Life Lutheran had a great retreat on the Oregon coast at Happy Camp learning to be Ambassadors for Christ. The youth earn funds for their mission trips through the Christmas Tree Lot each year. In the summer of 2010 the neighbors they will be working with will be in the Dominican Republic.
You may contact AIM Heidi Cryer at Lord of Life Lutheran (509-783-5222) for more information on the youth group and their projects.
Food Baskets for the Needy - local ELCA congregations gather food items for needy families in the area and deliver food baskets monthly.
The ANNUAL LUTHERAN CHORAL EVENING joins local Lutheran congregations in an evening of seasonal music and entertainment. Donations are sent to organizations chosen by the Area Ministry Strategy Team. Donations from the 2009 concert will be given to the Tumaini Lutheran Seminary/Secondary School of the Ulanga Kilombero Diocese of the ELCA in Tanzania.
